About
I am Jackson Boyle.
“Naniyattenno”is my blog, and in 2007 it was filled with photos stored on my flickr account.
Some of them were awesome. Some of them weren’t. The point was trying to get a better hit rate with the former. And having a lot of fun doing it.
Now, it’s 2008, and I’m aiming for a short piece of fiction every day, with pretty much the same intention as with the photographs - to see what I can do when I put the effort in, and how badly I mess it up when I don’t.
Since someone asked - naniyattenno means something akin to a politer version of “What the Hell are you up to?” My father-in-law has said this to me often enough for me to think reclaiming the insult was a hoot.
Since someone else asked - Jackson Boyle is a rather puntastic play on my actual name.
My self imposed rules are fairly simple again, although I’ve gone for more arse covering this year, seeing as how life got in the way one too many times in 2007 - when I say short pieces of fiction, that might mean one sentence. Or even less.
I might start a series if I like something enough, I might finish a story before it’s even begun. I’m ex-pe-ri-men-ta-ting here, and I’ll do as I please, thank you very much.
Meanwhile, the photo a day project continues over at flickr - check it out here or in the sidebar of this very site. So, the photo a day project um, stopped. I have plenty of excuses, but the truth is it just escaped my attention one day, a fact that makes me think I may as well just stop for the time being: there’s just not enough grabbing my photographic attention the way it used to.
You could probably put this down to over excitation of my cerebellum - I’ve way too many other things to think about lately.
Consider this an indefinite hiatus then. Never say never…
In the meantime, sit back, relax and enjoy my ramblings.
UPDATE, March 20th - I’ve decided to stop with the daily posting, it can sometimes get too much. I’d also like to be able to rewrite older pieces or work on my 52 Fujis book without feeling like I’m letting my blog down, just because I didn’t create a new piece of fiction specially for it: instead, I’m going to go with a weekly update. Stay tuned…
